Hand Rejuvenation

The saying goes ‘If you want to know a woman’s age, look at her hands’. Our hands can show signs of ageing more than other parts of the body. In fact, sun-damaged, wrinkled, veiny hands can even make you look older than you really are. Dr Nicky Naylor has an array of treatment options to rejuvenate your hands which can show the signs of ageing in the form of loss of skin tone, wrinkling of the skin, prominent veins, age spots and the hands becoming skeletal. Dr Nicky can administer hyaluronic acid fillers to the back of the hands to improve volume and skin hydration. She also uses collagen stimulating injectables such as Radiesse , Ellanse  or Profhilo to improve the appearance and rejuvenate the back of the hands. She addresses age spots or rough skin by applying skin peels . Results can last as long as 12-18 months.

Frequently Asked

What treatment is best for me?

Dr Naylor will spend time with you at your initial consultation. She will take a detailed medical history and discuss your concerns and will carefully examine your hands before you together decide on the most appropriate treatment option. There are many factors to consider when deciding on your best treatment option including your past medical history, your age, your lifestyle and what ageing signs your hands are displaying. Dr Naylor regularly uses hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Juvederm Volift or Collagen stimulators such as Ellanse or Profhilo to treat ageing hands.

What should I expect and how do injectable Hyaluronic acid fillers work?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are carefully injected under the skin using a cannula which is a tiny blunt-ended tube. This enables just one needle entry- point to be used reducing discomfort and bruising and ensures smooth distribution of just a fine layer of product in the areas needed to gently plump and hydrate the tissue to lead to a more rejuvenated appearance.

What should I expect if I have Ellanse and how does it work?

Ellanse is injected in a similar way as traditional dermal fillers. Dr Naylor likes to use a cannula for the smoothest results. Ellanse is a new class of bio-stimulating filler that works completely differently on a chemical level when compared to typical hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. It has two key components, the first gives immediate effect and breaks down naturally over the first 3 months; the second component continues to stimulate collagen production. It works to contour and naturally regenerate volume through stimulating collagen production, as opposed to simply adding direct volume to contour. Improvement in the level of collagen in the skin leads to improved tightness, elasticity, suppleness and youth of the skin.

What should I expect if I have Profhilo and how does it work?

Dr Naylor will apply anaesthetic cream to the back of the hands and will make a series of injections delivering a small amount of the product under the skin to raise ten bumps on the back of the hands. These bumps will be visible for up to 24 hours. The procedure will be repeated one month later. The first of its kind, Profhilo® is a revolutionary ‘beneath the skin’ hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on collagen producing cells. When injected into the skin it stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin.
