Hyaluronic Dermal Fillers
Fillers are a gel-like substance used as a filler medium. Contrary to botulinum toxin – a substance that temporarily relaxes muscles, thereby erasing wrinkles, lines, and frowns – fillers actually fill up grooves, lines, and wrinkles. They are used to restore lost volume, soften creases, and enhance facial contours. As an advanced aesthetic injector with more than 15 years of experience working with hyaluronic acid-based fillers, Dr. Nicky has delivered in excess of 40,000 treatments with exceptional results. The effects of the treatments are subtle but significant. Dr. Nicky Naylor’s philosophy is, “You always look like you, only healthier, younger, and refreshed.”
Treatment benefits
The ageing process comes with the loss of fat and support tissue in the face leading to volume loss. The skin loses its elasticity and slackens over the now smaller facial platform. The cheekbones become less prominent and the forehead starts to narrow due to boney reabsorption. By filling in the contours of the upper portion of the face Dr Nicky Naylor can restore that wonderful V-shape of a face that radiates youth through carefully placed hyaluronic acid fillers. The cheeks can be restored, naso-labial fold lines smoothed, corner of the mouth lines softened, and the jawline redefined. Dr Nicky Naylor's ethos is to restore not distort, achieving subtle and natural results.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do dermal fillers work?
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, keeping our skin hydrated. However, as we age our bodies produce less of it, contributing to the loss of volume from our face which causes our skin to sag and our cheeks to hollow out. The boney platform of the face remodels and the fat pads shrink adding to why the face ages in appearance. Dermal fillers of different molecular weights with different properties can be selected and placed at different depths in the skin to address these changes giving our skin more support and restoring the youthful complexion. Over time the fillers are gradually broken down by a natural enzyme in the body called hyaluronidase. They are safely reabsorbed.
Once the filler breaks down will I look worse?
Dermal fillers not only replace lost volume, they also help prevent and slow the ageing process. They act to support 'ageing trigger points' to slow the ageing process and their presence in the skin and the process of administering the product, stimulates the body to naturally produce collagen thus leaving healthier skin even after the filler has broken down. Sun exposure, smoking, air pollution, hormonal changes and everyday stresses can speed up the ageing process, causing lines, wrinkles and sagging to develop more quickly. Dermal fillers can help to reduce the impact of these factors.
How long will my dermal filler last?
Dermal fillers are long-lasting but not permanent as they will gradually break down and leave the body. The longevity of the filler depends on many factors including your skin type, your age, your lifestyle, the properties of the filler, where it is placed and how many treatments you have already had.

What are the risks/side effects?
It is important to chose a well experienced, medically qualified injector to reduce the risks associated with filler treatments. Dr Nicky Naylor has extensive knowledge as a doctor in the anatomy of the face and practices safe injection techniques. With an experienced aesthetic doctor complications are rare.
Juvederm products are combined with an anaesthetic making treatments almost pain free. Dr Nicky Naylor has the lightest of touches further minimising discomfort. One should expect slight discomfort after the procedure as the anaesthetic wears off, occasional bruising , redness and sometimes slight swelling of the area after treatment. On extremely rare occasions more serious side effects requiring early management can occur but Dr Naylor is well versed in complication management.
