Muscle Relaxing Consultation
Consultations are essential for all patients to ensure that Dr Nicky Naylor can prescribe the most appropriate treatments for you. Dr Nicky Naylor will need to take full medical history and spend time with you to understand your expectations and your desired results along with any factors which may underly the conditions.
The consultation process includes a comprehensive medical history, treatment area analysis and a treatment plan. Dr Nicky will take great care to understand your concerns and assess any underlying causes. She will guide you through treatment choices, pros, cons and alternatives. You will have the opportunity to discuss possible treatment in a confidential and safe environment.
Dr Nicky uses muscle relaxing injections to gently weaken muscle activity thus reducing visible signs of over-tightened muscles such as a down-turned mouth, vertical lip lines, ‘golf-ball chin’, gummy smile and ‘turkey-neck’. She also uses muscle-relaxing injections to treat migraines. Botox was approved in 2010 for adults who suffer from chronic migraines. It is believed that it works by blocking chemicals called neurotransmitters that carry the pain signals.
With over 40,000 treatments completed, Dr Nicky is an advanced injector with an in-depth anatomical knowledge allowing her to achieve precise and reproducible, natural results.

Treatment benefits
Carefully administered botulinum toxin injections can be used to weaken very specific muscles to allow counter muscles to become relatively stronger, so improving a down-turned mouth corner or a heavy brow. Where muscle has become tense, forming a visible band, for example in the neck, injections can be used to temporarily weaken the bands so giving the neck a smoother appearance. When botulinum toxin is injected into the masseter muscle it can break the cycle of teeth grinding by weakening its activity.
In reducing migraine frequency, botulinum toxin blocks neurotransmitters that carry pain signals.

Frequently Asked
How does it work?
When injected into a muscle botulinum toxin temporarily relaxes the muscle by blocking nerve impulses. As a result the muscle is temporarily unable to contract reducing muscular tension and the downward pull of the muscle. Depending on where the injections are placed a gummy smile can be improved, neck bands can be softened and down corners of the mouth can be up turned.
Is it safe?
Botulinum toxin has an excellent safety record and has been used in various forms of medicine for nearly thirty years. Used in dermatology to treat facial wrinkles since 1990 it has become one of the most popular and frequently used treatments in aesthetic medicine.
Is it painful?
Injections are relatively painless as Dr Naylor uses the finest needles to deliver the injections. Patients therefore do not require any anaesthesia but they are offered anaesthetic cream to make the procedure even more comfortable. Dr Nicky has a very calm and soothing manner making the whole experience a pleasure. The full treatment takes about 15-20 minutes to perform and you are able to drive and go to work the same day.
How long before I see results?
Some clients can notice reduced movement within the first day or two while others can take as long as 8-10 days to feel any effects.
